Well, perhaps if a couple of people in 1965 had said “yes” instead of “no” we may have been sitting here with TMG five or six hundred and something with titles like “Jealousy is creeping up on me”, “You’re walking out with my heart” or “Memories of her love keep haunting me”, which may have been as easy as “You can’t hurry love” or as hard as “Never say no to your baby” to pick up. In most cases these tracks must have been rejected due to not being “modern” enough. I am most ashamed to admit that whilst trying to work out a few weeks ago, which big artists had still not had their output issued in CD format, I overlooked this stunning group. (Perhaps I stopped at “U”, or perhaps the whiskey ran out). Anyhow Ady has put that to rights with this superb collection of mainly Northern Soul gems, together with five superb unissued beasties. more
